Verified Reviewer |Redfin agent LOST us the house we bought!
NO ONE has reached out to refund our lost money or apologize.
Redfin has made NO efforts to pay our lost money. We have had NO apology from them.
As per Harrington's attorney, we were to have signed paperwork on or prior to 1/4/2023. This paperwork was never presented to us, therefore, it was never signed.
Since this paperwork was not signed, the Harringtons cancelled our purchase agreement and moved forward with another buyer.
After Jenny Dedrick found out about the other offer, she asked us if we would amend the price of our house so our buyer could be non-contingent. This was on 1/10/2023. It was already too late, but we didn't know that. We agreed to amend the price from $345,000 to $340,000 netting us a loss of $5,000 on the sale of our home.
The inspection on the Navajo property had already been done and paid for.
Jenny assured us for over a week that we would not be losing the house, and that we did not need to sign the cancellation agreement.
The stress during this time was incredible. We looked for our "perfect retirement home" for a year and a half and it looked like we could be losing it. We had zero intention of moving until we found the perfect home!
After all was said and done, we had sold our home and had no home to move into. We were dividing our belongings into 3 parts.
One part that could go into a POD for storage (things that could freeze), one part that had to go into a heated storage unit, and things that we would have to bring with us into our temporary housing while we started a new home search. This was another highly stressful situation; looking for places to store all our things, pricing it, figuring out how to move it and not knowing how long we'd be without a home.
We found a home, but it is not the home we would have chosen if we did not need a house immediately. Because we already had a deadline to be out of our home, we did not have time to get an inspection on the new home.
Redfin reduced some closing fees by $2500. We are still out $3000 (house reduction price and inspection).
We are asking that Redfin pay us the $3,000 that we lost due to their realtor's error.
We are also asking that Redfin pay for an inspection on the home that we had to buy so we would have somewhere to live. We are particularly concerned about radon since this home has a well and a basement.
This was a gross error on her part and we are still in shock that we are in a home that isn't the perfect home for us simply because we needed a place to live.
It is unconscionable that we could lose a home and our hard-earned money through absolutely no fault of our own, but due to a professional's error. We are still heartbroken every time we look out a window and see a neighbor instead of the 4 acres of woods and the river that we had originally purchased.

- Poor service
- No refund for our losses

Subject: Request to Remove Redfin Estimate for Newly Listed Property:428 Crescent Ave Sunnyvale CA 94087
Dear Redfin Customer Service Team,
I hope this email finds you well. Today, I listed my property :428 Crescent Ave Sunnyvale CA 94087 for sale on the market, and while reviewing the information regarding Redfin Estimates, I came across the following information on your website:
"For homes that are for sale, the agent listing the property can remove the Redfin Estimate at any time by deselecting the "Allow Automated Valuations" option within the Multiple Listing Service in which the home appears.
This will prevent automated valuations from showing on all third-party real estate sites. If you'd only like the Redfin Estimate removed for your actively listed home, please contact our Customer Support Team for further assistance."
Given this information, I kindly request that the Redfin Estimate for my newly listed property: 428 crescent Ave Sunnyvale CA 94087 be removed from the market. I am eager to ensure that potential buyers have an accurate and unbiased understanding of the property's value as they consider their options.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Please confirm once the Redfin Estimate has been successfully removed for my listed property.
If there are any additional steps or information required from my end, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for your assistance and understanding. I look forward to a successful partnership with Redfin throughout this sales process.
Best regards,
Bi Jun Lin

You get what you pay for. I was happy with relatively lower commission compared to other angencies. They have team to work together, and you don't get as much attention you need to sell or buy.
1. Communication was not great.
I had to email or text message same questions to get an anwer. Buying and selling a house is time sensitive.
2. You have to deal with several agents. During the open house, we didn't get brochure, which turned out it was delivered, but we didn't know.
One of the team members who stayed for our open house didn't inform us, or our agent didn't inform us.
3. We didn't like the way they talked to us. Sometimes I felt like I was yelled.
4. The agent kept pushing me to use her lender.
I don't know why when I had a great lender who provided the best interest rate. But I felt stressed out when the agent constantly emailed me that my lender is supposed to be her lender. Her lender was great, but the interest rate was way higher than my lender offered.
5. During walk through, this guy showed up, opened the door, and was on his phone the whole time.
It was my first time buying a house on my own and didn't know what to look for. It wasn't helpful at all.
6. I got the house without contingencies but wanted to do inspection. The agent said I couldn't do inspection because I got the house removing inspection.
It turned out that I could do it if I could change the contract. No contingencies means I can't ask the seller for responsibilities for anything. I can still do inspection.
7.They asked me to provide feedback. Then they didn't want to hear my side of the story.
I had to hear the broker's non stop talking.
8. They didn't like my feedback and called me they won't work with me anymore and blocked all my phone call.
I am glad that I sold and buy a house quickly. But it could have been much nicer and less stressful if I got services I needed.
I understand that I probably required more help than others because I didn't know how selling and buying a house work. But that's why I paied big portion from my house sales.
My listing is now showing on Redfin, I called again to ask them to change phone number e the contact phone number to my cell number instead of my brokerage

A property just sold 3 to four weeks ago.17527 Piney Point Rd Piney Point MD 20674. Truepeoplesearch.com said my brother Donald Evans who passed away in 2012 was the previous owner of this property.
A false statement. Also the numbers 301-247-**** 301-461-**** 301-997-**** 301-580-**** 301-475-**** and the most recent 401-475-****. I contacted Long and Foster and talked to Don. He said he didn't know what was going on but I should follow up on it. I filed a police report. This property has been in the hands of my real estate agent for 12 years since my brother passed away.

Redfin agents have little control over situations like this and no control over any compensation like a traditional agent would. The managing broker must step in and is responsible for any kind of reimbursment and is also responsible for giving agents the correct and legal advice. A negative review in multiple forums of one agents name is unfair and unnecessary.
"A negative review in multiple forums of one agents name is unfair and unnecessary". People read reviews and count on them to make informed decisions.
Ultimately that agent is representing Redfin, so no, it is not "unfair and unnecessary" to leave accurate reviews.
The fact of the matter is there was a mistake (our realtor called it a "loophole") and NO one took accountability. We had a realtor that let us down and cost us thousands of dollars.
It is very unfortunate that this sale ended up the way it did. There was a detail related to a contingent offer that was was not clear with our staff and should have been.
This review is not quite accurate to what exactly happend, however in the end, unfortunately the sale was lost after every effort to save it between the buyers agent and the sellers agent. The new buyer came in with an attorney and found a small loophole.
The sellers were not willing to work with the current buyer even after the buyer was willing to do what it would take to remove the contingency, and cancelled their agreement. I do not agree that only one person was at fault.
This comment is not accurate. The sellers came to our house and TOLD us that they wanted US to have the house!
They CAME TO OUR HOUSE to tell us that. They wanted to do whatever it took to get us in their house, not the "girl with an attorney".
We had met at the inspection (that we were never refunded for when Redfin lost us the house!) and really hit it off. They wanted US in that house.
